Today was perfect walking weather. The sky was blue and there was a very light breeze as I walked the 11 miles or so gently uphill to Astorga. I thought I’d listen to music as I walked and it got me wondering as to what is the perfect music for the Camino.
The Proclaimers “I’m going to be 500 miles” is of course pretty apposite. Lindisfarne’s “Run for Home”, Placebo’s “Running Up That Hill” and in fact anything with “Run” in the title makes me smile as I limp slowly and painfully along. Actually, it’s a worship song that I find most encouraging and tied to my mood. It’s Phil Wickham’s “This is Amazing Grace”. I’ve got the version by Jeremy Riddle on my iPhone and I’m just loving walking along and singing the chorus as I go.
This is amazing grace This is unfailing love That You would take my place That You would bear my cross You lay down Your life That I would be set free Oh, Jesus, I sing for All that You’ve done for me
Not only dressed as a cowboy, but now a singing cowboy. Whatever next.
