Penultimate day. I wanted an early-ish start as this was a 28km day and I didn't want to rush it. I had got the hotel to do some laundry the night before and it was due back early. Unfortunately there was some kind of disaster and it was with a lot of apologies that the laundry was finally delivered after a good hour's delay.
The way was familiar. Down a long descent to Ponte Ulla, followed by a long walk up the other side of the valley. The temperature was definitely climbing and I was drinking a lot more than normal.
I was out of water by early evening but fortunately came to an albergue in Vedra. The last orange was solemnly eaten for that last bit of energy, watched by this little fellow. I say little - he was a about a foot long. Perhaps he lived at the bottom of one of the bunks inside the albergue?
The final bit of the walk was then fine, arriving in Lestedo, a well-kept village outside of Santiago and in easy striking distance for the morning. The B&B was run by a delightful woman in a historic house surrounded by waterfalls. It was amazing and will certainly be the place to stay next time. Anywhere with a sword like this one on the wall gets my vote.
