A very short day today. Only 16km and no road walking or other signs of human activity at all. Just 16km of delightful oak forests and huge numbers of black pigs.

At one point a bit of stick waving was required to get them to shift from their defensive position guarding a ford. Generally however these were fairly well natured pigs and it was a delightful day of blue skies and quiet. Lunch was by a small lake, washed down with the vino tinto from the night before.

El Real was a quiet little town. The hotel for the night was fine (La Encina) but somewhat oddly located in a small commercial park just outside the town. Nowhere to eat nearby so dinner was at Meson La Cochera. Me and another pilgrim were the only diners. The food was excellent - the owners had collected wild mushrooms that morning and meal could not have been fresher.
