This post is mis-named. Theoretically I started in Lestede but....
Thanks to the requirements for testing before one flies, I had to get a test today so I could fly on Monday. The only place that was open on a Saturday was a place outside Santiago called O Milladoiro. So, plan was to taxi over to the test centre and then walk in from there, it being a similar distance.
I booked my test and headed over. The test centre was surprisingly well run with one busy but nice nurse / receptionist who did a very gentle test. And then it was time to walk into Santiago. The route has been changed since I walked in on the Portugues in 2015. It's nicer, avoids main roads better and the 10km went well.
There is still that wonderful feeling of achievement when one sees the twin towers of the cathedral for the first time.
And there is nothing like the classic shot of the cathedral in Praza do Obradoiro with ones sore, suffering feet in the foreground.
So this is an incomplete camino. I will need to go back and walk from Vila Pouca to the Spanish border. Only then I will present myself to the pilgrim office and collect another compostela for the study wall...
Update - as one can see from the inserted blog posts dated in 2023, I finally finished this pilgrimage two years later and collected my Compostela.
