After last night's retreat to the mountains, this morning was back to the plain. The hotel's dad provided the taxi service back to Alcuescar and then it was another day through scrub land with only sheep for company. Quite a lot of sheep though.

This is an easy landscape to walk through.

Lunch stop was at a little town called Casas de Don Antonio, abut 9 or 10km along the way. No bar in Casas de Don Antonio - but there was a Centro Social. A very warm welcome in a cold, soulless building of a bar and a chat with an elderly and quite strange German - or Dutch - pilgrim who seemed like he was doing the camino on one heck of a small budget. The beer and the sandwich were good.

Then onto the stop for the night, a Casa Rural in Aldea de Cano. Got there rather early so there was time for a beer at what looked like a newagent's kiosk in the Plaza Mayor. The view of the romanesque church - St Martin's - was perfect.

Dinner was at the La Posada & Giraldo, again the main square. Looked pretty grim at first but the young dad who was behind the bar and was also the cook, turned out an amazing meal. One of the best meals on the whole VdlP.
