Cows.  Cows are great aren’t they?  They give us milk for cafe con leche, cheese, prime cuts of beef, steak tartare (if you are a bit foreign) etc.  Here are some I met today.

Sweet, aren’t they?  The only beef (ha ha) I have with cows though is the mess that they make when trundling along country paths. Today’s paths from Rodeiro were clearly well used extensively for shifting cattle and, as a result, were long pools of deep mud, cow dung, cow pee and water.  By the end of the first 10km, I could have cheerfully turned the next cow I saw into steak tartare.

The villages today were, after yesterday’s surprise of a well-tended place, back to normal. Plenty of “se vende” signs and not very des res properties.

But – clearly getting closer to Santiago.  The taxi peregrino signs are appearing.  Also I had one of the best meals of my life in a little restaurant in Lalin.  I think my favourite dish was the beef carpaccio….
