At my daughter’s wedding on Saturday, while the marriage certificates were being signed, a friend sang “what a difference a day makes”. Beautiful words.

Also, what a difference about 1,000 miles makes. Leaving Stansted airport this morning was a traditional British experience- massively packed security hall (although it was 6:15am), fighting through the crowds in the shops and finally running to catch the plane after hearing the “gate closing” announcement. And then an hour on the ground while something wrong with the plane was fixed. And all the time, rain gently coming down from low grey clouds.

Roll forward 1000 miles and I’m sitting at a pretty cafe with a view of Oviedo cathedral. Now I just need to choose some lunch before starting to trek…
