It’s a good job that I am planning to do some sightseeing in Porto tomorrow. It will mean I spend quite a bit of time inside, rather than outside being rained on. If anything it is damper here than England which takes some doing.
Still, an easy enough journey and the receptionist was charm itself (made up for having to stand outside waiting for her to arrive from another building). She saw the scallop and said she really really wanted to do the Camino but life was so busy and she couldn’t find the time….I said I knew exactly how she felt. There’s always something that screams “urgent” at you – you deal with it – go on to deal with the next “urgent” thing – and before you know it the website http://www.deathclock.com is running out of seconds in which to do some fun stuff.
Porto looks interesting but nowhere looks great in the rain. This is the view from my room – I need to get to the cathedral tomorrow to get the first stamp in my pilgrim’s passport.

The Brierley guide gives some suggestions of things to see but the recptionist gave me about 5 days worth of suggestions. Mind you a lot of them were rather more suited to drier weather – I think her suggestion, which she described at length, to take the tram out to the delightful beaches on the coast would benefit from less rain. My lemon cornetto obsession will have to wait as well.
Not that tempting…
