A damp farewell

But not in the sense that there were floods of tears at my departure though there is of course always sorrow at a parting; nope, this was good English bank holiday weekend weather. Rain coming down in buckets as I head to Gatwick.

I made a last minute decision to forgo my lighter disposable ponchos in favour of a heavier one. Today’s weather was a curt reminder that heavy rain can be a bit of a bore to trudge through but can be really unpleasant if one gets soaked. I also remembered that my Swiss, “rainproof” gear that I relied on on the Ingles turned out to be showerproof only so a nice heavy poncho is a much more assuring addition to my kit.
